Join our Board and help those in need in Rochester

This is an unremunerated role, however, any reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

The Charity provides for those in need within the boundaries of what was the City of Rochester. The Charity is responsible for the provision of almshouse accommodation and offers support to those in need through the awarding of grants. To this end the Charity has to manage a significant property portfolio and an investment portfolio to ensure it can maintain the quality of its services.

The Charity currently has a total of 27, (12 full-time and 15 part-time) staff responsible to the Clerk/Chief Officer for the running and operation of the services both internally and externally.

Required qualifications:
Ideally he/she will be a professional with skills in either employment law, finance or estates management and should have the necessary skills or experience to play a full part in the governance of the charity. No previous Board experience is necessary. We are interested in hearing from people with a range of skills, not just those highlighted above.

The new Trustee is expected to attend 12 Board meetings a year, plus up to six Committee meetings a year. All meetings commence at 10:00am and last no more than two hours.
