Winter Shelter Coordinator Grant

Richard Watts Charities have made a £6,000 grant to help fund a Winter Shelter Coordinator and Support Worker to work at the Medway Winter Night Shelter. The shelter operates on a rolling basis providing 12 bed spaces every night from January to March 2017 – guests sleep at a different church venue each night.  Started in November 2015, the Medway Winter Night Shelter project is an alliance of local churches and other organisations concerned about the number of people living on our streets or in vulnerable housing. Their partners include Medway Council, Strood Community Project, Churches Together in Medway, Open House and Emmaus Medway.

£1,000 awarded to the Open House Project

The Open House Project is a Community project for homeless and vulnerable people. The Project is open to guests at the Quaker Meeting House, Northgate, ME1 1 LS between 2pm and 4pm every Saturday and for longer periods over Christmas and provides a warm place for people in need. They offer visitors food and hot drinks and give them care-packages when they leave. The Project is run by volunteers and is always in need of more to join the rota.
